Signed Copy! This work has entered the final for “The Novel of the Year 2017” contest from the Slavko Janevski foundation.
The author, with his first words, positioned the work as an exploration of the idea: “Does art imitate life or life imitates art,” which seems to be the leitmotif of this novel. In this story of Macedonia from the future, or rather, from a parallel reality, the main characters Toma Hansov, a writer, and Nicholas Slate, a scientist, are going through a series of unfortunate events trying to find a sense in the midst of the chaos that will find them. New Macedonia is a totalitarian state in the spirit of Oceania from the work “1984” by G. Orwell and contains elements of the “Brave New World” by A. Huxley. However, the authors of these works were inspired by their fantasy, while the author of “Apocalypse.mk” was inspired by the reality, in the spirit of the saying that sometimes “the reality is stranger than fiction.”
Anyone who has survived the transition of the social system in Macedonia that is still transiting from one stop to another on the road that leads nowhere, will be able to recognize those elements of reality in this book. Macedonia is ready for a true dystopian novel in the spirit of world classics and the author offers it to his country, because after all it really deserves it.
